CLEVELAND, Ohio – By next summer, beer drinkers will get a new perspective on the West Side Market. That’s becausein Cleveland’s Ohio City neighborhood is adding a rooftop patio that looks onto the market hall and clock tower.
Known as Canopy, the 49-seat patio will be finished by early September. It will be used for special events during the remainder of the 2024 warm-weather season. It will open to the public for the Ohio City Street Festival on September 15.The space has been part of the vision since the beginning. “Back in 2009, my business partner, Mark Priemer, engineered the roof to support a rooftop bar,” says owner Sam McNulty. “So, after all these years we decided it was time to release “Canopy” to the neighborhood.”“Multiple times a week, we’ll get requests for wedding or engagement photos up on the rooftop with the market tower in the background,” he says. “It’s one of those iconic Cleveland moments that is very Instagram-able.
