Vice President Kamala Harris has suggested 'price gouging' is a significant issue impacting Americans.

Target CEO Brian Cornell on Thursday rejected the idea, promoted by Vice President Kamala Harris, that major retailers are “price-gouging” American pocketbooks.her economic platform would revolve around countering “price gouging.” The general term refers to increases in prices for consumers following a disruption in supply, such as a natural disaster.Cornell continued, explaining retail is a highly competitive industry. Because of this, many major companies operate on thin margins.

“We’re in a penny business,” he said. “It is a very competitive space and we provide the value that consumers are looking for. The stance comes as other major Democrats are weighing in on Harris’s proposed economic policies. New York Gov. Kathy Hochul credited President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris on Wednesday with creating a "strong economy" and encouraged the latter to continue promoting her economic policies in the White House.

“I would say continue the strong policies that the Biden-Harris administration has already enacted,” she said. “All the indicators are that we have a strong economy coming back, inflation is going down, interest rates are coming down, jobs are going to keep going up.” She then pivoted, encouraging Harris to also tell Americans “struggling with economics” that “help is on the way.”of The National Desk readers, just 18% said they trust Harris to manage the economy and southern border.
