Lithium Americas said it will explore alternative structures for GM’s investment

Lithium Americas said that General Motors delayed the second part of its $650 million investment in the Thacker Pass project in Nevada, US, until the end of the year.In January 2023, GM agreed to invest $650 million in Thacker Pass in two installments: a first of $320 million and a second of up to $330 million. In return, GM would have exclusive access to lithium in the first phase of Thacker Pass production.Part of the conditions for the second installment is the execution of a $2.

The American lithium developer said it will explore alternative structures for GM's additional investment to benefit both companies."Our relationship with GM has been built on collaboration and a mutual goal to develop a robust domestic lithium supply chain," Lithium Americas chief executive Jonathan Evans said. "We are fortunate to have GM's partnership as we finalize the DOE Loan and GM investment prior to making the final investment decision later this year.
