Police are hunting an attacker and trying to trace a 'machete' thought to have been used in a horror knife attack at Longsight Market. The victim, a 32-year-old man, suffered life-changing injuries, now understood to have been to his wrist, in the incident on Dickenson Road on Monday evening . Paramedics and police raced to the incident at around 10.30pm. The victim was rushed to hospital for treatment from the scene as the area was taped off.

Traders arrived at the market to set up their stalls on Tuesday morning to find a huge crime scene in place. An evidence tent had been erected, with multiple police vehicles at the scene amid investigations. Officers were also seen reviewing the market's CCTV footage as they attempted to piece together what happened.
