FAIRBANKS, Alaska - After clearing a major milestone in the process of merging Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines, the $1.9 Billion deal now faces new challenges as competing airlines raise concerns.
One of the nation’s largest airlines is raising concerns to the federal government about the planned merger between Hawaiian and Alaska Airlines. This includes the ability for United customers to acquire reward miles when travelling between islands on Hawaiian flights. Patrick McNamee, a pilot who flew for United and Continental Airlines for 37 years believes other airlines in the area will join United in expressing concern. “United shot the first bullet across the bow. Trust me, Southwest is going to be there by tomorrow,” said McNamee.
