Federal labor officials recouped more than $100,000 in unpaid overtime from a Southlake landscaping company, the U.S. Department of Labor announced Tuesday.
An investigation by the department’s wage and hour division found that J.P. Above and Beyond Landscaping misclassified 38 workers as independent contractors, denying them a total of $103,665 in overtime pay from January 2022 to January 2024., including failing to pay overtime of time and a half an employee’s pay rate for hours exceeding 40 in a week and for not keeping accurate records, the labor department said in a news release.
