‎Rhian-Mari Thomas will be named on Tuesday as the first chief executive of the Green Finance Institute, Sky News learns.

A Barclays executive is being assigned the task of overseeing the City's efforts to become the world's dominant centre for green finance as the quest to slash carbon emissions intensifies.

Dr Thomas, a former global head of green banking at Barclays, will join the new body, which is being funded jointly by the Corporation and the government, ahead of its formal launch in July.
