Five decades ago, the Clean Air Act gave promise for Americans to breathe cleaner, healthier air.

Forty five years ago, Central Pennsylvania witnessed technology out of control. “We all live in Pennsylvania” asserted the universal nature of the nuclear disaster at Three Mile Island. The accident raised troubling questions, unanswered four decades later.

Was safety sacrificed for corporate profit? Did the NRC understand the threat to a whole region of citizens if the core had totally melted? The creation of environmental laws gave levity to the need to regulate the fossil fuel industry and major polluters. The slogan, “We all live downstream,” became a rallying cry to action and understanding the interaction of all aspects of our environment.
