They are alleged to have targeted two victims

Six teenagers have been charged after two teen victims were allegedly robbed in Nottingham Old Market Square. The gang, aged 13 to 17, are all due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, September 11 having each been charged with robbery.

The incident, which happened at around 1.15pm on January 27, saw the two victims hand over sunglasses, a hat, a chain and the contents of their pockets. They had been walking along Exchange Walk when three people on mountain bikes are alleged to have ridden past them. The police later described them as "young men".

The pair reached Market Square and were allegedly approached by three other males on foot before the trio on bikes were reported to have reappeared. Those on foot are alleged to have demanded one of the victims empty his pockets and hand over his sunglasses and a hat.The second victim was allegedly told to take off his chain and give it to the offenders.

In a statement released at the time, Detective Constable Steve Willetts of Nottinghamshire Police , said: “This robbery must have been an upsetting ordeal for the two young victims. Officers have been supporting them and their families while carrying out our investigation.” The gang - some from the Radford area of the city and aged 13, 14, two aged 15 and two aged 17 - are scheduled to appear at court for a first hearing tomorrow.
