Political parties are continuing to send their condolences to the family of the late Gordhan.

“The Democratic Alliance sends our condolences to the family of Mr Pravin Gordhan who passed away this morning. Mr Gordhan was a longstanding member of parliament, a minister in government as well an activist. I do not think the people out there realise how big a part of Mr Gordhan’s life he spent working for the people of South Africa. We wish his family all the best during this difficult time, and we send our condolences to them,” says Willie Aucamp, DA Spokesperson.

“It was wonderful to be a colleague and to see his relentless and deeply questioning of his own ANC colleagues as he exposed the rot and as he said, he connected the dots. So, we want to pay tribute to him for his boldness, for his courage and for his public servant heart to the nation of South Africa.”

“Action SA sends our deepest condolences on the passing of former Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan whose dedication as a public servant whose contribution to South Africa and political landscape over five decades cannot be overstated. May his family be comforted at this time and may his soul rest in peace,” says Lerato Ngobeni, Chief Whip: ActionSA.

“There were two things that I deeply respected about Pravin; the first is that he was not a coward from the time he was involved in the struggle as an activist and an operative in Operation Vula to the post-1994 period as SARS Commissioner, but also during the dark years of State Capture. He showed what standing for principle looks like. He led by example from the front. It was really a very difficult time for him,” says Songezo Zibi, Rise Mzansi Leader.
