The organisation says high dam water levels from the winter rains will provide water security.

Farming activities were recently dealt a blow by flooding with the farmers experiencing extensive damage to infrastructure and their produce due to the flooding.

He adds, “The positive outcome is that our major dams in our province are at full capacity and we are therefore ready for the dry summer season that lies ahead. Mitigating against flooding damages is to ensure that we keep our rivers clean and that we implement river maintenance plans throughout our province.”

The Western Cape Department of Infrastructure meanwhile says it will draw up a transversal maintenance management plan that will address not just the road infrastructure, but also the management of the river and agricultural land in affected areas of the province.
