Nilay Patel of The Verge interviews Josh Miller, cofounder and CEO of The Browser Company, the maker of the Arc browser. They discuss Arc’s ambition to be an operating system for the web, its AI-powered features, and its place in the evolving landscape of search engines and content creation.

Today, I’m talking with Josh Miller, cofounder and CEO of The Browser Company, a relatively new software maker that develops the Arc browser. David Pierce, my Vergecast cohost and Verge editor-at-large, is a big fan of Arc and has written about it quite a bit for us. You can read his review here. Basically, Arc is a ground-up rethinking of the web browser. Most modern browsers started as simple document viewers and grew to support running complex apps.

Other CEOs have gotten in lots of trouble on the show suggesting that they will make something that was previously free into a subscription product. Do you have any hesitation there? There’s nothing in the product today that we are going to charge people for. So we’re really excited about this next evolution.
