Givan said there is an urgent need to respond to gun violence plaguing Birmingham.

Rep. Juandalynn Givan, a Democratic lawmaker from Birmingham who has been outspoken about the need to respond to gun violence, said today she is introducing a bill to ban bump stocks in Birmingham.

“At least 100 shots were fired in Five Points,” Givan said in a news release. “That’s not a crime scene, that’s a war zone. A bump stock has one purpose and one purpose only; to kill or wound as many people as possible.” Can Five Points South recover after mass shooting?
