The department also announced interim adjustments for Road transport tariffs for petrol and diesel for the Nelson Mandela Bay area due to the temporary closure of the Port Elizabeth port, as the product would have to be sourced from East London for the region.
The department’s director of fuel pricing, Robert Maake elaborates: “93 Octane petrol will decrease by R 1.06 per litre. 95 Octane will decrease by R1. 14 per litre. While diesel will decrease by R1.12 and R1.14 per litre. Illuminating paraffin at the retail level will decrease by R1.48 per litre while LP gas will increase by 23 cents per kilogram.”
Maake says the reasons for these adjustments are the lower oil prices and stronger rand to the dollar during the period under review.
