A 70-year-old family business in Lake Cowichan is being forced to close its doors after receiving a 100% increase in its rent.

A family run business that's been operating in Lake Cowichan for 70 years is closing its doors, after a 100% increase in its rent.

“I think it’s terrible. You are basically putting a business that is so important to our community, out of business, because of not being willing to compromise,” said customer Sharon Kelly. “That’s terrible. I did not know. I thought they were just done, they’ve been here forever, but 100%?” said Doherty.
