Former KwaZulu-Natal Premier Willies Mchunu, who has announced his resignation from the ANC, says the uMkhonto weSizwe Party should have not been excluded from the Government of National Unity .
Mchunu, who is also a trade unionist and a former chairperson of the South African Communist Party, is said to have played a significant role in fostering growth and shaping the image of ANC in the province. Mchunu says there are a number of other factors that also contributed to his resigning from the ANC, including the exclusion of the MK Party from the Government of National Unity.
Speaking on the future of the ANC and the quality of its current leadership, especially in KwaZulu-Natal, he says the formation of the MK Party would not have shattered a strong ANC.
