The African National Congress Youth League in Tshwane says it is open to ActionSA taking the mayoral seat as long as it understands the vision of the ANC.
Councillors in Tshwane have a week left to nominate a new Mayor following the removal of the DA’s Cillers Brink last week. ActionSA, which has partnered with the ANC, Economic Freedom Fighters and minority parties to oust Brink, has expressed its desire to take over the mayoral seat. ANCYL regional convener Sizwe Tsiyane says, “Are we comfortable with someone from ActionSA leading Tshwane? We are not obsessed with ourselves as the ANC. We believe that if there is a way that can really service the residents which might include us sharing power or even being led by other progressives in council, why not? If they understand the vision of the ANC to prioritise the marginalised community. We would not be obsessed to be at the forefront of that process.
