The JSC says it will continue with its business despite Dr John Hlophe’s resignation.

The JSC says it has not yet received communication from the Speaker of the National Assembly Thoko Didiza on Hlophe’s resignation.

The Western Cape High Court temporarily barred Hlophe from participating in the Commission’s activities. However, the JSC said on Friday that Hlophe was a designated Commissioner despite the interim court interdict. On Monday, the commission started interviewing candidates to fill positions in various courts around the country.

JSC Spokesperson Adv. Sesi Baloyi says the interviews will continue. “We found out from, you, the media that Dr Hlophe has resigned from the JSC. We’ve had a discussion. The position is that we haven’t yet received any notification from the speaker of parliament, the body that informs the JSC about designations and any changes.
