The Community Policy Forum has called on the South African Polie Service to deploy its officers in different communities to avoid having patrollers on the front lines.
The forum alleges that members were killed by a group of people who are dealing with extortion and stock theft in the area. CFP national spokesperson, Siyanda Biyela, has called on the Police Ministry to also find a way to offer CPF members self-defence classes to allow them to protect themselves. “We can’t say let us resource the CPF with guns and everything in order for us to match and measure with what is there on the ground now. But we are saying, and we are calling on the ministry of police to really look into a way to make them be able or skill them to be able to scan the environment’s that they are working in.
