Residents’ organisation Lotus Gardens, Atteridgeville and Saulsville Civic Association , says it expects newly elected Tshwane Mayor, Dr Nasiphi Moya, to prioritise the scrapping of bills.
The association says it has long been calling for the debt to be scrapped and that ActionSA has been in the same tune since 2021., surpassing former mayor Cilliers Brink of the Democratic Alliance , who garnered 86 votes after being ousted through a motion of no confidence just two weeks prior. The chairperson of LASCA, Tshepo Mahlangu says, “We need to have what we call civil education towards all the residents to urge them that once the debts are scrapped people should be responsible for consumption. Because they’ll be using prepaid meters to buy their electricity.
