The North West Portfolio Committee for Community Safety and Transport Management has requested that an investigation be conducted following allegations of mismanagement, corruption and irregular appointments at itsSince it has been placed under business administration, the parastatal failed to restore itself, whilst being a subject of a court process.
Therefore, the committee then asked law enforcement agencies, government departments and chapter nine institutions to investigate operations at the entity which is under business rescue. The committee’s chairperson Freddy Sonakile says, “The Hawks and the SIU as well as SAPS have been requested to investigate as far back as 2020. SIU to see proclamation that will investigate allegations of corruption, nepotism, theft and irregular procurements particularly focusing on missing funds. Unauthorised bank accounts, double payments, failure to follow supply chain processes and the auctioning of the NTI buses.
