Restaurateurs at a popular eaterie in Rutherglen are marking a milestone anniversary by giving back to a charity that’s close to their hearts. To celebrate 25 years of the family-run business, Derek and Annette Freeman, the owners of The Bistro are fundraising for the Beatson Charity in memory of Derek’s dad, Tully who died in 2022. The couple’s nephew John Kerr said: “The Bistro was operated from September 1999 by Derek’s mum and dad.

” It’s not the first time that the family has helped give something back to the cancer support charity. Derek said: “Up until now we’ve raised about £14,000 for the Beatson. We held a charity event before my dad died, that was the last thing he wanted to do before he passed. “Last year we had a Halloween do. And myself and my son shaved our heads to raise money. It’s something we want to do annually and this year we thought we’d tie in with the anniversary.
