Workers downed tools and halted operations complaining about the non-payment of salaries.

Workers downed tools and halted operations complaining about the non-payment of salaries as well as other issues.

Scores of commuters, especially learners, were left stranded and forced to seek alternative transportation during the strike. The South African Transport and Allied Workers Union provincial treasurer Isaac Makhoba says, “The parties agreed that operation will resume on the following conditions that no disciplinary action will be taken against the employees who participated in the unlawful or work stoppage. The company will prioritise payment of hospital cover and medical aid contributions.”

“The other issue that we agreed upon is that task team will be established by the Department of Transport, to address other issues that they have been raised.” Any cookies that may not be particularly necessary for the website to function and is used specifically to collect user personal data via analytics, ads, other embedded contents are termed as non-necessary cookies.
