The International Relations and Cooperation Minister Ronald Lamola says South Africa’s foreign policy will never change.
He says South Africa is committed to ensure there’s global peace by advocating for dialogue where there are conflicts.“There is no question that the executive authority of the State is vested with the President, including his supreme diplomat of the country – the custodian of our foreign policy. We also facilitate and coordinate in terms of the Foreign Service Act DIRCO which coordinates and handles all issues related to our foreign policy.
DIRCO says the meeting between Minister Lamola and his Ukrainian counterpart Andrii Sybiha is an indication of South Africa’s non-aligned policy. There was a public spat earlier between GNU partners DA and ANC after the DA had distanced itself from President Cyril Ramaphosa’s remarks at the BRICS Summit, referring to Russia as an ally.
