Overall more than 500 people were laid off.

An Illinois-based truckload carrier that said it was one of the largest transportation contractors associated with the United States Postal Service, has closed.filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification notice with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry informing the state it has closed its terminal at 2470 Evans City Road in Jackson Township, Butler County, near Harmony on Sept. 9.

Employers are required to provide notice 60 days in advance of a covered-business closing and covered-business mass layoff. There are exceptions to the rule. The company’s WARN notice was dated Sept. 30.
