The ACCC has provided an important update on the proposed merger between Chemist Warehouse and Sigma, a large pharmacy wholesaler and distributor of prescription medicines and other products.The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission says it will not stand in the way of a proposed million-dollar merger between pharmacy businesses Chemist Warehouse and Sigma Healthcare.

Picture: NewsWire / Max Mason-Hubers The ACCC back in June this year said it had initial competition concerns about the deal and put a call out for submissions from interested parties like rival pharmacies as they began a review. The deal was originally floated in December of 2023 whereby Sigma would get all the shares in Chemist Warehouse in exchange for Sigma shares and $700 million in cash, according to information provided by the ACCC.
