Mokonyane says that that there should be a call for respect of the rule of law to ensure that the official announcement is made peacefully. “We were in Mozambique. We saw what happened and we believe that, of course, that just like in any other election, it is not easy for everyone to embrace the outcome. But what we must really guard against is a situation where the outcome of the elections or the delay of towards the official announcement is used to cast aspersions. Let’s leave the Mozambicans to make their official announcement and everybody must live with it,” she says.
He says their counterparts in Mozambique side say the situation is volatile and not safe for operation around the port of entry area.
