For Isaac Lakatos, 6, a kindergarten student at Grindstone Elementary School, passing out snacks at his sister’s softball games started as a fun thing to do.

BEREA, Ohio --

Soon, this became a project for him, said his mom, Lauren Lakatos. By the end of the school year, he had collected $215. Lauren Lakatos contacted Natalie Guzzo of the Berea Community Outreach Pantry, who gave her a list of needed items. The Lakatos family -- including dad, Ryan, and sister, Taylor, 10 -- went shopping. From granola bars and trail mix left over from Taylor’s 12U Titans Fastpitch games to cartons of vegetables, boxes of cereal, cheese, butter, pasta, spaghetti sauce, applesauce, macaroni and cheese, peanut butter, soup and bathroom tissue, the Lakatos family delivered their stash to the pantry.
