The Extraordinary Summit of SADeC Heads of State and Government is taking place in Harare, Zimbabwe. It’s focusing on advancing the region’s industrialisation agenda through innovation and technological advancement.
Mnangagwa says as they consider the DRC’s future, they are also thinking of other challenges faced in the southern African region… “Zimbabwe reaffirms its readiness to cooperate with other members states for the realisation of a peaceful, integrated, industrialised and prosperous SADC. Your excellencies, as we deliberate on the future of DRC, we are not oblivious to other challenges impacting our region, particularly, the climate change induced drought in the public health emergencies,” says Mnangagwa.
Executive Secretary of regional body SADeC, Elias Magosi says the security situation in Eastern DRC remains a great source of concern. He has condemned violations of the ceasefire. He’s also urged member states in southern Africa to maintain their commitment to the regional mission in the DRC.
