Sir Bruce Forsyth News

Strictly Come Dancing

Veteran presenter Bruce Forsyth made a fortune during his time as the host of Strictly Come Dancing, with accounts showing he took home hundreds of thousands of pounds per series

The legendary Sir Bruce Forsyth is remembered for being the host of BBC's Strictly Come Dancing, and it seems the presenting gig helped him earn a fortune over the years. According to the Sunday People, the late star raked in an astonishing £6 million from his 11 series stint on the popular dance competition.

Bruce left the show in 2013 and Tess Daly then teamed up with Claudia Winkleman to front Strictly. However, Bruce, who died in 2017, admitted: "I never enjoyed it as much as people thought." Bruce elaborated on the disconnection he felt, saying: "The problem for me was that I didn't get to meet anyone in the show, or really get to know anyone very well – not even backstage.

Bruce made his final TV appearance on Strictly's Children in Need Special in 2015. His health began to decline and after undergoing surgery for an abdominal aortic aneurysm he was unable to host that year's Strictly Christmas Special. Bruce made no further public appearances after this, with his wife saying that he struggled to move easily following his surgery. He wound up in hospital again in February 2017 with a severe chest infection, but was discharged five days later.
