A fabrication company in Perth has been fined $250,000 following a severe injury to an employee who was bending titanium. The incident highlights the importance of proper risk assessment and safety protocols in the workplace.

A fabrication business in Perth’s northern suburbs has been fined $250,000 after a worker sustained severe facial injuries when working with titanium. The incident occurred in May 2021 when the worker was asked to 'bump bend' a piece of 12mm-thick titanium, resulting in 47 facial fractures, a 15cm cut, and permanent eye damage. Twoex Pty Ltd, trading as West City Engineering, admitted guilt and was ordered to pay additional costs of $5990.

The court highlighted the lack of risk assessment and the company’s failure to implement adequate safety measures
