CSO’s latest earnings data show workers earned an average of €955 a week in third quarter

Wage inflation remains above 5 per cent as Irish workers seek compensation for the fall-off in real earnings during the recent inflationary surge.

The figures show weekly earnings rose across all 13 sectors of the economy in the year to the third quarter. The largest annual percentage increase was 8.7 per cent in the information and communication sector, rising from €1,524 to €1,656.The battle around ‘around’ and other awful woolly words Nonetheless they are expected to continue to cut interest rates this month as inflation pressures here and in other countries continue to ease.
