|JST is planning an engineering and production facility in Guntersville.Japanese electronics manufacturer JST will build a 300,000-square-foot factory in Guntersville, with initial plans to hire 80 people.

JST currently has a production facility in the city, employing about 30 full-time employees, which opened back in 2003. With the project, JST is looking to expand its footprint in the state’s auto manufacturing industry. The company plans to build a factory with design by Ryuichi Ashizawa of Osaka, known for combining design, landscaping and natural resource preservation. In a statement, JST said the 250-acre site is “ideal for the company’s tradition of making unique architectural statements with its global facilities.”
