DPSA says govt must ensure that when they advertise, disabled people have access to the information.

), has called on government and the private sector to do more to ensure that people with disabilities are included in the labour market.

The organisation has expressed its disappointment over the low representation of people with disabilities in the Limpopo Public Works, Roads, and Infrastructure Department’s latest recruitment drive. Out of 174 recruits, only three are persons with disabilities, sparking concerns about the fairness and inclusivity of the hiring process.

DPSA’s National Chairperson Patrick Mahlakoane says, “They need to acknowledge that disabled people are there and they should start by working with persons with disabilities or DPOs, Organisations for people with disabilities, to ensure that when they advertise, disabled people have access to the information. So, this could be a measure that we can use to close the gap because you might advertise but it’s not everybody who’ll be able to see or who’ll be able to hear.
