Community healthcare centres in Gauteng will operate 24 hours throughout festive season.

Gauteng MEC of health presents the Department of Health’s state of readiness to respond to anticipated high volume of emergencies during the festive season.Gauteng Health MEC Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko says community healthcare centres will continue to operate 24 hours a day throughout the festive season.

Nkomo-Ralehoko updated the media on Wednesday on the department’s readiness for the festive season in Midrand, north of Johannesburg. She says proactive measures have been taken to ensure that necessary resources are allocated to serve residents. “All our 38 Community Health Centres operating 24 hours a day will continue to remain open throughout the festive season. This will ensure that our communities always have access to the much-needed essential medical care. No one should miss out on their treatment during this period.”“As we prepare festive meals, we have the responsibility to protect our loved ones from foodborne illnesses. Proper handling and storage of food is therefore important to avoid contamination.
