A soap star who left Emmerdale last week after more than 13 years on the hit show has signed up with a Shropshire production company to lead an upcoming drama.Daisy Campbell has been portraying the role of Amelia Spencer on the ITV1 soap since 2011 when she was just seven. She made her final appearance in the popular drama on Friday following the culmination of the Tom and Belle Dingle abuse storyline.
The Yorkshire-born actor appeared on ITV’s Lorraine show last week to speak of her'shock' and'sadness' at being axed from the soap after 13 years.Daisy, aged 21, who has appeared in over 700 episodes, announced the news to tens of thousands of followers in a video on Instagram that was filmed at Iscoyd Park in Shropshire. Rocking Horse Media for a forthcoming drama, and has even visited a north Shropshire beauty spot to film her announcement video. The news broke just the day after her final episode of the major soap that made her a household name was aired. Rocking Horse Media previously attracted top talents for its Henry House TV pilot, but believes securing Daisy’s signature might eclipse even that. “It’s a sea change,“ said writer/producer Gareth Owain David Thomas. “We’ve worked with top talents before but the difference with Daisy is previously our bigger, active TV stars were never our lead. They’d come in on a short term basis and go again. But to attract a working TV actor in the main role is a huge step forward for us.
