Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh believes Malaysia's sports industry doesn't lack sponsorship but struggles to convince potential sponsors. She attributes this to unclear proposals that include unnecessary expenses. Yeoh emphasizes that sponsors want to see their funds directly contribute to sports development. She highlights the RM1,000 sports tax relief as a game-changer for the industry, allowing both parents and children to benefit from sports participation.

“If they sponsor money, they want it to be used for sports development and they don’t want to see it used to pay salaries or used for other unnecessary purposes. Meanwhile, Hannah described the RM1,000 sports tax relief covering the expense of sports training fees as a game changer for the country’s sports industry.

“If you are a taxpayer, not only your children will benefit but also their parents and grandparents because we want to have sports for all groups and this is a game changer that we are fighting for,” she said.
