An Australian business caught selling fake Aboriginal art has been fined $2.3 million. 9News

On the Gift Mate website, which bears striking similarities to the former Birubi Art website, the company describes itself as a wholesale distributor supplying Australiana and Australian souvenir products to retailers.

In a statement to 60 Minutes in 2018, Ben Wooster admitted that Birubi Art manufactured some products overseas but denied he sourced any products from Bali specifically. “He told me that the background was done by other people, and all I had to do was fill in an animal.”
