President Cyril Ramaphosa says with the signing of the Presidential Health Compact, the government is closer to fundamentally transforming the country’s health care system.

The President says under One Health System, all our hospitals, clinics and doctors’ rooms are appropriately staffed and resourced.

Ramaphosa, Health Minister Zweli Mkhize and other stakeholders in the health sector, on Thursday, signed the much anticipated Presidential Health Compact at the George Mukhari Hospital in Ga-Rankuwa, outside Pretoria, on Thursday. The signing of the Compact is a culmination of months of talks. President Ramaphosa says this is a big step for the country.

“This Compact illustrates what we can achieve when we plan and we work together to fix what is wrong in our country. It has assisted through, one country one health system. This means the quality of care must be the same regardless of whether you have money or you do not have money.

How they going to find 50 000 nurses they need just to get to the right number of nurses per bed? Secondly not to mention GP's and Specialists. It will take them 20 years to get just the minimum! How they going to sort the theft and fraud out?
