Minister in the Presidency Jackson Mthembu says fair and accurate reporting should remain paramount to ensure a free and fair democracy.

Mthembu was speaking at the National Press Club’s annual Awards, where President Cyril Ramaphosa received the 2018 Newsmaker of the Year Award.

Receiving the award on behalf of Ramaphosa in Pretoria on Friday night, Mthembu urged the media industry to safeguard the country’s democracy through responsible reporting. Chairperson of the Press Club, Thando Mkahubu says choosing Ramaphosa as the 2018 Newsmaker of the year was a no-brainer.
