The portfolios are designed to help people invest in companies that benefit women and away from companies that are harmful to them.

Last week, Ellevest, the digital investment platform for women, launched its female-focused Intentional Impact Portfolios. The portfolios are designed to help people invest in companies with products, policies and practices that benefit women and away from companies that are harmful to them.

The new portfolios are aligned with Ellevest’s mission to help women reach their financial goals by investing. Sallie Krawcheck, who is CEO and cofounder and was previously one of the most senior women on Wall Street, started the company in 2016. She has previously toldthat when she was putting on mascara one morning, she had an “aha” moment: She realized that women live longer than men, earn less and are less likely to invest.

Clients can customize the portfolio to causes they care about such as climate change or LGBT rights. Each portfolio includes approximately 300 companies that have been evaluated based on how they affect women. The team identified
