ICYMI: In a new survey, 21% of Tesla owners expressed dissatisfaction with the timeliness of Tesla's service last quarter — a 13% jump from last year:

Tesla is making strides in addressing the lack of service centers, but it still has a long way to go. In response to long wait times, Tesla has made expanding its network of service centers and mobile service vehicles its priority. In the past year, it has added 62 service centers globally and almost doubled its service vehicle fleet. Here's how Tesla should continue its efforts:

In the short term, Tesla should continue to aggressively expand its fleet of mobile service vehicles to fill in gaps as it builds out its service center network. The mobile service vehicles can handle the bulk of necessary repairs — the company 80% of repairs can be done by its mobile repair service — and can travel to customers in areas without a nearby service center.

In the long term, Tesla will need to drastically increase the ubiquity of its service centers to handle the 20% of repairs that can't be done on the road for its expanding fleet of EVs. Tesla's fleet of EVs is by approximately 5,000 each week.
