The local government of Manila shut down Friday a private market in Sta. Cruz, Manila after the Veterinary Inspection Board seized 3,700 kilos of smuggled meat products from China at the establishment.

In a closure order on Friday, the Salgado Private Market was padlocked after officials discovered that the market was violating the Meat Inspection Code of the Philippines and Food Safety Act of the Philippines.

The order likewise read that there were no occupational permits for 10 service personnel of the market.
