'Reckless' Boris Johnson plans to pass law which puts a no-deal Brexit in 2020 firmly back on the table

The move was branded "reckless and irresponsible" by Labour's shadow Brexit secretary Keir Starmer, while Liberal Democrat co-leader Ed Davey said it would "send the country straight off the no-deal cliff." That is despite a warning from Michel Barnier, the EU's chief Brexit negotiator, that striking a "comprehensive" free-trade deal between the EU and UK in 11 months next year will be impossible.

A Downing Street source said: "Last week, the public voted for a government that would get Brexit done and move this country forward and that's exactly what we intend to do starting this week." Labour's Keir Starmer said: "This is typical of the reckless and irresponsible behaviour we have come to expect from Boris Johnson 's Government.
