MELBOURNE - The Australian government said on Sunday it will channel A$76 million to the tourism industry as recent heavy rains have dampened many of the monthslong bushfires, allowing the country to look to recovery.
“Our federal response to these devastating bushfires is comprehensive and unprecedented,” Prime Minister Scott Morrison was cited in a statement announcing the aid. The Australian Tourism Export Council, another peak tourism body, told the Australian Financial Review that the losses may go above A$4.5 billion by the end of the year.
Tourism has been an increasingly vital part of Australia’s economy, accounting for more than 3 percent of annual economic output.
Don't be fooled keep your money and stay away, unless you enjoy the presence of a decimated land, and beware you may become depressed. Our prime minister is spending bushfire charity donations on tourism marketing. Generating revenue more important than reparation.
And here I thought PM Morrison would instead expand coal mining! WhatClimateChange
Sounds about right. Got their priorities right there then haven't they?
Is ecological destruction tourism as thing now? Australia is still in danger, it will be whilst climate change is denied & the the nations leader clings to coal. Industry as a whole cannot be trusted, they are governed by greed & appeasing share holders. Choose a wise leader.
How about aiding the wildlife that's left
Maybe the right wing flat earth society deplorable AU government ought to prioritize climate change that is burning the country and destroying the ability of earth to support life? A start might be to cease exporting coal.
Once again quickly the industry tells government what to do..when its painfully clear what needs to be done and isnt. The hypocrisy is so stenchfully shitty
🌏❤️👌👌
While millions of injured animals starve
AUSTRALIA IS 'COOL' ONCE AGAIN!
