THE US Justice Department yesterday abruptly dropped its criminal case against a company controlled by a confidant of Russian President Vladimir Putin that allegedly funded a campaign to meddle in the 2016 election. Just weeks before the trial was to begin, DoJ announced it is withdrawing the eight-count indictment of Concord Management and Consulting, a firm owned by Yevgeniy Prigozhin.
