Global stocks rise, with signs that the spread of the new coronavirus could be slowing in some of the hardest-hit areas

Global stocks rose Thursday, as investors looked toward a gradual economic recovery in the second half of the year, with signs that the spread of the new coronavirus could be slowing in some of the hardest-hit areas.

S&P 500 futures were 1% higher. In Europe, the pan-continental Stoxx Europe 600 also rose 1%, and the U.K.’s FTSE 100 gained 1.4%.
