1,900 Spanish strangers create 3D-printed ventilator to help hospitals - Business Insider

Through a Telegram chat, 1,900 innovators and medical professionals in Spain have been teamed up to offer innovative solutions to battle the coronavirus crisis.

Through a channel on Telegram, there are currently over 1,900 medical professionals and technologists in Spain all working together to make products to help save lives in the fight against the coronavirus crisis. Marrero said health professionals are afraid of not having enough ventilators or devices for every patient that needs one, something that's already happened in many countries hit by the pandemic, including in Spain where he's based.

But the idea is that the device is ready and safe to be used in the event of an emergency. "Hopefully it won't be necessary to use it," he says. "This is only a plan B for hospitals if everything else fails."
