Amendi is taking the concepts of traceability, transparency, and sustainability to new heights by sharing their factories and “fabrication facts” of every garment.

, a new label based in Sweden, is hoping to set the record straight. Transparency and traceability are the pillars of its business; but not only that: founders Corey Spencer, Andreas Åhrman, and Julia Åhrman believe that they’re the keys to actually fixing the fashion industry.

Transparency is the actual sharing and exposing of those details. Depending on the brand, that could be even harder to achieve than traceability; fashion designers have historically been tight-lipped about their suppliers, mostly to avoid copycats and, in the case of luxury houses, to maintain exclusivity on manufacturers or materials. As Spencer points out, committing to transparency and traceability also requires an investment plenty of companies aren’t willing to make.

They quickly learned that they could build their entire supply chain in Istanbul: the fabric, the labels, the hardware, and the final manufacturing. “It’s just common sense,” Andreas says. “There are shorter transportation routes [for the clothes], and it’s easier for us to control every step. I can go to Istanbul and see all of our suppliers in one day.”

Every Amendi garment comes with a "fabrication facts" tag outlining its fabric content and cost breakdwon. In addition to shrinking their supply chain, Amendi’s jeans, T-shirts, and sweatshirts—which have a minimal bent without feeling sterile—are produced with organic cotton and have a laundry list of eco-friendly credentials: nickel-free buttons and zippers, closed-loop water filtration, upcycled leather patches, and multiple certifications to back up those claims.
