Live Entertainment Industry Forum’s James Sutherland says “the way we graduate crowds is going to be a slow process and it’s up to us to find ways to build confidence” as restrictions begin to ease around the nation.

“Confidence within government and amongst the fans,” Mr Sutherland told Sky News. “That we are creating a COVID safe environment and that there won’t be any outbreaks as a result of the gatherings we hold,” he said.

“The pleasing thing is our research is telling us that about 80 per cent of fans of live entertainment are ready to come back.” The NRL has returned for two rounds minus crowds and the AFL is retuning on Thursday. Health authorities in South Australia have permitted just over 2,000 fans to attend a game at Adelaide Oval this weekend. The entertainment industry itself is worth $150 billion to the Australian economy.
